Tuckahoe?s Mayor Ecklond recovering from leg broken during Nor?easter

While his constituents were dealing with shoveling and driving through the snow during the Nor?easter that struck the Lower Hudson Valley on Nov. 7, Tuckahoe Mayor Steven A. Ecklond did not escape unscathed.

Ecklond said that when leaving the emergency command center at Village Hall, he took a ball fall that resulted in a broken leg and two breaks in an ankle. He?s recovering, and in the meanwhile has been teleconferencing in to conduct village business. ?It?s been an interesting couple of weeks. I went from going 100 miles an hour trying getting the power back to zero after this injury,? he said with a rueful laugh.

Though the doctor says he won?t be walking on his own steam until January, he plans to show up on crutches for Monday?s board meeting. ?I haven?t missed a meeting in 10 years and I don?t plan to start now,? he said.
